160 – Russia is using bombers that Ukraine gave away 25 years ago – UNIAN
Journalists also found Ukrainian Tu-95MS, which received new names in Russia.
Russian troops operate Tu-160 strategic bombers, which Ukraine handed over 25 years ago to pay off gas debts.
As reported by Radio Liberty's “Schemes” project, thanks to the analysis of serial numbers from the 1999 aircraft transfer agreement and from international aircraft registries, it was possible to find out that at least six Tu-160 aircraft transferred by Ukraine are now in combat service with the enemy army.
In total, Schemes journalists identified ten Ukrainian strategic aircraft transferred to Russia. There they were given new names:
