Fraudsters are using new schemes to extort money from the families of prisoners and missing people
Families are promised inclusion in the list for exchange, demanding significant sums for “help”.
Fraudsters send private messages to the families of prisoners and missing persons, offering fake documents purporting to be extracts from the databases of official bodies.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
In the messages, families are suggested to contact the fraudsters to include the name of the captive in the list for further exchange. After the “positive feedback”, the scammers send an “official invoice” to pay a large amount for the “help”. To support their lies, they provide links to the sites of real organizations to which they have no relation.
