The reason for this is the lack of properly equipped storage facilities.
High post-harvest losses are one of the weaknesses of the Ukrainian sector of fresh vegetables and fruits.
“The development of this sector can become a powerful tool for the recovery of the economy and the development of rural areas,” the report says.
But it is held back by the low level of mechanization, compared to the EU, the lack of storage facilities, the lack of necessary certificates for export to the EU by small and medium-sized farms, and limited access to sales markets.
