IN Kyiv fraudsters defrauded an 88-year-old woman of almost UAH 100,000 under the scheme “your son was in an accident”.
This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office.
“According to the investigation, two accomplices, 54 and 18 years old, using the “your relative was in an accident” scheme, defrauded an 88-year-old woman. The pensioners called and said that her son had an accident and urgently needed money for his treatment. Believing this story, the woman gave UAH 35,000 and EUR 1,500 to one of the suspects when he came to collect the money,” the report says.

The 18-year-old young man gave the money to his accomplice, having received his reward – 10,000 hryvnias. The accomplices were detained immediately after that.
