In Abkhazia, protesters broke into the parliament – why are they with the Russian flag

In the self-proclaimed republic of Abkhazia (the part of Georgia occupied by the Russian Federation), protesters against the ratification of the investment agreement with Russia broke into the parliament building in the city of Sukhumi. At the same time, the participants of the protest waved the Russian flag and chanted “Russia”.

The corresponding video is published by local Telegram channels.

Before breaking into the government building, one of the organizers of the rally said that there were no “anti-Russian sentiments” in the protesters' actions.

According to him, the people stood up to defend “the national interests of Abkhazia, its natural resources and wealth”, which the president of the self-proclaimed republic, Alan Bzhania, is trying to usurp for personal gain.
