Archaeologists have discovered stone circles that may be parts of an ancient “sacred arch”.

Archaeologists have discovered two Neolithic stone circles similar to Stonehenge in the British Dartmoor National Park. This discovery supports the theory of the existence of a “sacred arch” built in the heart of the Devon Highlands.

Archaeologist Alan Endacott named one of the discovered clusters of stones the Meteral circle, after the hill near which it is located. The circle consists of 20 stones, most of which have fallen, and measures approximately 40 by 33 meters.

The second semicircle, located a little further, could be a henge monument. Alan Endacott compares it to the early phase of Stonehenge, the Ring of Brodgar in the Orkney Islands and the Banded Stones on Bodmin Moor.
