The Russian Federation used the Kh-101 with an engine from an “ancient” Soviet rocket – UNIAN

The production of engines for cruise missiles may be a weak point of modern Russia.

A certain part of the Kh-101 missiles that the Russian Federation used during the attack on November 17 were equipped with Soviet R-95-300 engines instead of the standard turbofan-50A engines. This was reported by the Telegram channel “Colonel General Staff”.

Experts drew attention to the fact that on the fuselages of some missiles a mark was made with a marker indicating the installation of an engine of the old type – “95-300”. “This is the first recorded case of such a symbiosis of a modern Russian cruise missile and an outdated Soviet engine,” experts say.

They note that the R-95-300 is not produced in Russia, so it is possible that these engines are taken from the Kh-55 cruise missiles. The latter was developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It was put into service in 1983….
