A man was shocked after he woke up after surgery to discover that surgeons had mistakenly amputated the wrong leg.

Jason Kennedy, 48, a former fisherman, went to Grace Hospital in Manitoba, Canada, for elective surgery to remove his right leg due to a severe bone infection.

Kennedy initially went to Seven Oaks Hospital on October 23 due to pain and bleeding in his right leg. The decision to amputate at Grace Hospital was made on October 28, and the operation itself took place on October 31.

Only after the operation did he discover that his left leg had been amputated. He said: “I was just wondering if it was a bad dream. The pain is still in my right leg and it's there right now as we speak.”
