8 National Guardsmen were surrounded for 67 days without a break – how did they survive
The commander managed to get six of his comrades out of the encirclement. One more, the eighth fighter, unfortunately died.
Eight soldiers of the “Svoboda” battalion of the National Guard fought continuously for 67 days in an encirclement in order to stop the Russian offensive on the city of Siversk.
Ukrainian journalist Yuriy Butusov told the story of the courageous defenders.
According to him, 8 fighters battalion “Freedom” of the 4th brigade of the National Guard 67 daysfrom July 10 to September 16, led the defense a support point near the village of Spirne near Siversk. Water, food and ammunition were dropped to our fighters from drones.
For the last three weeks, the boys have been surroundedand repelled the last enemy assault, when Russian attack aircraft stormed their position and threw grenades into the dugout.
