NATO exercises – the British army used Archer self-propelled guns – UNIAN
Rovajärvi (Lapland) is the largest testing site in Europe.
The British Army used the Swedish Archer self-propelled artillery mount in the Arctic Circle.
According to The Telegraph, the tests as part of NATO's Lightning Strike exercise took place just 70 miles from the border with the Russian Federation. For the British Army, this was the first live-fire exercise using this mobile howitzer.
Archer's 155mm cannons are designed to fire high-explosive fragmentation shells or GPS-guided ammunition. They can hit targets 30 miles away, firing up to 12 shots in three minutes.
As is known, about 16 of these self-propelled artillery systems will replace 32 British AS-90 artillery systems, which the UK previously transferred to the Ukrainian army.
