Why do airplanes have round windows?
An experienced pilot told how aircraft designers came to the understanding that airplanes cannot have square windows.
If you've flown on an airplane, you've probably noticed that the windows are round in shape. A veteran pilot who runs the popular TikTok blog about aviation, Captain Steve, spoke about the reasons for this.
In a viral video that has now racked up over 2.3 million views, Captain Steve told his followers a story that dates back to the 1950s.
He noted that 70 years ago, some airplanes were built with the familiar square windows. However, it quickly became clear that the shape suitable for houses was absolutely not suitable for airplanes.
