VTB told who is now taking out a mortgage

According to VTB, by the end of 2024, state support will account for about 65% of mortgage issuance in Russia, and market programs will account for only a third. Typical situations in which Russians are forced to take out expensive loans are starting a family, having a child, or moving to another city.

Despite the protective rates, market mortgages are finding their buyers. Basically, such transactions take place as a result of the exchange of one object for another with a small credit surcharge. According to VTB statistics, the average loan size under market programs today is about 3.8 million rubles – about 20% lower than in 2023. The down payment is about 30% of the property value versus 36% in January. At the same time, in absolute terms, this figure has increased since the beginning of the year – from 3 to 3.8 million rubles.
