Many people associate cucumber pickle with a hangover drink, but it is also very useful for athletes, reports Sports.kz with reference to the “Championship”.
Mayur Ranchordas, a sports nutritionist at Sheffield Hallam University, spoke about the benefits of pickle juice.
According to him, the drink helps fight cramps that some athletes suffer from. It stops cramps 40% faster than drinking water.
Pickle juice contains sodium, potassium and vinegar, and the obvious conclusion is that it replaces the sodium and salts lost when exercising in a hot and humid environment, and thus prevents cramps.
The professor explained that cucumber pickle causes a reflex in the mouth that sends a signal to the brain to stop muscle spasms.
