Oreshnyk missile – what weapon was Putin talking about – Defense Express
The designation “Oreshnyk” could appear in the working documentation of the missile, which is now known as the RS-26 “Rubezh”.
There is no publicly available information about the Russian Oreshnyk missile that Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly used to strike the Dnipro, but the Kremlin likes to play double names for its weapons.
Experts of Defense Express drew attention to this.
In particular, they recalled how in the summer of 2022, Russian propagandists talked about the Zmeevyk long-range anti-ship missile project, and a year later the mention of such missiles disappeared from public space. The publication suggests that reports about “Zmeevik” could serve as a “cover” for real projects of the Russian Federation to create medium-range ballistic missiles.
