The Russian Oreshnik missile is based on the RS-26 (“Rubezh”), which barely circumvented the ban of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF Treaty), Forbes writes.
The Oreshnik is a variant of the Russian RS-26 ballistic missile, a 40-ton solid-fuel missile that covers two treaty categories, according to Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh.
“Depending on the angle at which it is launched, the RS-26 can travel up to 6,000 kilometers. This would make it an intercontinental ballistic missile,” the publication says.
