Scientists have discovered what qualities influence trust – Lifestyle

Researchers from the USA and Austria conducted a series of experiments to understand how people determine who can be trusted, reports Sports.kz with reference to the “Championship”.

Their results showed that one of the most important factors is so-called “intellectual humility”—the willingness to admit that knowledge may be incomplete or erroneous. These findings were published in the journal Nature Human Behavior.

A total of 2,034 people took part in five experiments. In the first study, participants were asked to rate scientists in terms of their intellectual humility. They were then given articles written by different authors to read and asked to express their feelings about them. It turned out that respondents tend to trust more those authors whom they rated as “intellectually humble.”
