During the study of the ice sheets of Greenland, scientists discovered hidden underground corridors belonging to the period of the Cold War.

NASA scientists, who studied the ice sheets of Greenland, discovered a unique view of an abandoned “city under the ice”, which was built by the American military during the Cold War. This site was planned to host nuclear missiles ready to be launched in the event of a war between the USA and the USSR.

NASA scientists, using the Gulfstream III research aircraft and radar instruments, conducted research on the Greenland ice sheets. They sought to measure the depth of the glacier and underground layers of rock, but ended up discovering an abandoned US military base known as Camp Century, which was built during the Cold War. The base consists of tunnels cut directly into the ice sheet.
