The European Commission notes the need to harmonize rates on various tobacco products in Ukraine with EU practice
Business associations appealed to the Rada with a request to support the government bill to increase the excise tax on tobacco products.
The European Commission focuses on the importance of Ukraine harmonizing excise rates on various categories of tobacco products with European ones.
“With regard to excise duties on tobacco products, the Tax Code of Ukraine is generally harmonized with EU legislation. Further harmonization is required by the various categories of tobacco products and excise duty rates applied in accordance with EU regulations,” her report says.
