A simple recipe for delicious biscotti
Why are biscotti cookies so called?
The name of the biscuit comes from the Latin biscoctus, which translates as “twice cooked”. In order for grain-based products to be stored longer, this technique is used – baking twice. Even Roman legionnaires ate rations of bucellatum – biscuits, baked twice. The biscotti dough is baked in the oven, then cooled, sliced and baked again, drying out the cookies and becoming crispy.
Ingredients for making biscotti
- Flour – 350 g
- Butter – 110 g
- Eggs – 3 pcs
- Cinnamon – 0.5 tbsp
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Any nuts
- Dried fruits – raisins, dried cranberries, dried apricots
