Tomorrow, November 29, in the Orthodox calendar the day of memory of the holy martyrs Paramon and Philumene. They suffered for the faith of Christ in the II century. Their biographies are part of the early Christian tradition, which testifies to the brutal persecution of Christians during the period of the Roman emperors, in particular during the time of Emperor Hadrian.
Paramon was a priest and Philumenes a deacon. Both of them came from the city of Magnesia (modern Turkey), which was one of the centers of the Christian community at that time. When Emperor Hadrian began the persecution of Christians, Paramon and Philumene openly professed their faith in Christ and refused to sacrifice to pagan gods.
