In this round of the world championship he was opposed by Andre Bertelsmeier (Germany). The opponent won the match with a score of 4:1.
Note that 17-year-old Alan competed in the under-19 age category.
In the 1/16 finals, Kurmangaliev defeated Yulan Batiks (Cameroon) – 4:3.
