There is bad news for tea lovers: by the end of the year, prices for black tea bags are expected to increase significantly – by 7-10%.
The reason for this is Russia’s strong dependence on imports of tea raw materials. The country produces only 20% of the necessary raw materials, the rest has to be imported.
Unstable geopolitical situation, logistics problems and unfavorable weather conditions such as drought in India, which could lead to a 20% increase in the cost of Indian tea, have already led to an increase in import prices.
Black tea bags will become especially expensive. Elite varieties of green tea, pu-erh and oolong will rise in price slightly – up to 5%.
Russia is one of the world's largest consumers of tea, and black tea is the most popular type.
