After four matches played, Astana has four points and ranks 23rd in the standings. Note that the 24 best teams will continue to fight in the tournament, and clubs from 25th to 36th places will be eliminated at the end of the general stage.
Astana started with a victory over the Serbian TSC Backa Topola (1:0), but then suffered two defeats in a row – from the Welsh New Saints (0:2) and the Cypriot Paphos (0:1). In the fourth round, Grigory Babayan's team tied with the Portuguese Vitoria (1:1). Until the end of the general stage, Astana will have to play matches with the English Chelsea and the Cypriot APOEL.
