Akademik Vernadsky station – polar explorers recorded the bathing procedures of one bird – UNIAN
The snowbird is considered the largest land animal in Antarctica.
Ukrainian polar explorers filmed an unusual event near the Akademik Vernadsky station, on Galindez Island – the only “land” Antarctic bird, the White White White, took a “bath” for itself in the water that had accumulated in a boat covered with a tarpaulin. Scientists say they call this beautiful snow-white bird a chicken-pigeon hybrid.
“When you are the only bird in Antarctica that does not swim in the ocean, but also loves water activities, then you can swim… in a polar explorers’ boat,” note the National Antarctic Science Center of Ukraine.
