It is noted that during the attack on November 21, Russia for the first time used a medium-range ballistic missile codenamed “Oreshnik”. This air target is classified as having a maximum range of 3,000 to 5,500 km. In the case of the Dnipro, the missile flew just over 800 km to its target.
The development of the Oreshnik missile took place before the Russian Federation announced in February 2019 that it was withdrawing from the treaty on the elimination of medium- and short-range missiles. In particular, this document prohibited the development and production of these missiles.
