European leaders are now heatedly debating what the security architecture in Europe should look like if newly elected US President Donald Trump fulfills his promise and shifts the security of Europe solely onto the shoulders of Europeans. The latter is also alarmed by the fact that in reality there are not many armies in Europe capable of fighting. There are also few citizens who, after decades of comfortable life, have the will and desire to take up arms and defend their freedom.

Therefore, European politicians will have to make unpopular decisions. For example, a return to universal military conscription – this issue is already being discussed in France and Germany, or a reduction in social programs, and in return an increase in military spending.
