Drivers will be left without money and without cars: just because of two people

The joint activities of fraudulent groups can lead to the fact that the seller of the car ends up in court some time after the completion of the transaction. This new scheme, which has become widespread in Russia, is called “Twix”.

Maxim Shelkov, head of the Autocriminist expert center, explained the mechanism of this scheme: scammers convince the seller to register the car in one person’s name, while the payment is received from another person into a bank account. This plan can be discussed openly, but is sometimes carried out without the parties' explicit consent – the buyer simply pays for the purchase through a banking application using someone else's account.

Later, the owner of the account where the money was received goes to court with a lawsuit against the seller, claiming that he has illegally enriched himself….
