In the United States, a court has suspended proceedings against Donald Trump in a criminal case for interference in the 2020 elections. The case is expected to be finally closed soon, CNBC reports.
The pause was requested by special prosecutor Jack Smith, whose team is prosecuting Trump in federal court in Washington. Smith said his team needs time “to assess this unprecedented circumstance” (Trump's election victory) “and determine an appropriate course of action that is consistent with Department of Justice policy.” The future of the criminal case against Trump is planned to be determined by December 2.
