An asteroid the size of the Empire State Building will fly past Earth on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, exactly 11 years after its discovery. Forbes reports this.
The publication notes that the approach of such a large object to the Earth is assessed as an event that happens once a year, but it will not pose any threat. The 450-meter asteroid will fly closest to Earth on Wednesday at 7:27 Ukrainian time and will approach the planet at a distance of 2.2 million kilometers – about 5.7 times further than the moon.
