Indonesia demands $1 billion from Apple to return iPhone 16 to the market – UNIAN
Sales of the iPhone 16 in Indonesia were suspended at the end of October in response to Apple's failure to fulfill investment commitments.
Indonesia expects to receive a $1 billion investment commitment from US tech giant Apple “within a week,” Reuters reports. If the company makes such a commitment, iPhone 16 sales in the country will be unlocked.
In October, the Indonesian government banned the sale and use of the iPhone 16 because Apple had failed to meet its investment obligations. One of the main conditions for lifting the ban is additional investment by the company in local production. In addition, the iPhone must contain at least 40% parts made in Indonesia.
