MP State Duma of the Russian Federation and two-time Olympic champion Vyacheslav Fetisov stated that the officials are to blame for the fact that Russians perform without a flag and anthem, reports Sports.kz with reference to Gazeta.ru.
He stated this in an interview with ex-skater Roman Kostomarov on the Rutube channel.
“Russian officials are to blame for not standing up for domestic athletes. I kept telling the guys, if there is an opportunity, go. Everyone makes their own decisions. Would I go if I had such a choice? No,” Fetisov said.
On October 12, 2023, the IOC announced the suspension of the ROC until further notice after the inclusion of the Olympic Councils of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions into the Russian organization.
