Iran on Friday announced the successful launch of the Simorgh launch vehicle, part of its space program. The launch took place at the Imam Khomeini Cosmodrome in Semnan province, where the center of Iranian civil space activities is located, Bloomberg writes.
The Simorgh rocket launched an “orbital propulsion system” and two research platforms into a 400-kilometer orbit above the Earth. The system allows the spacecraft's orbit to be changed, a technology Iran has long sought to develop to create geosynchronized satellites.
