The ball was reportedly observed in the sky around 1 a.m. on December 5 local time. It could be seen in many regions of the island.
The fireball was orange-red in color. His flight was captured by many cameras in different cities.
“It appears to have been a fireball that exploded twice before falling,” said Katsuhito Nakajima of the Ginga no Mori Astronomical Observatory.
According to him, fireballs are not uncommon in Hokkaido, but it is rare to see such a bright object.
