Ukrainian intelligence could have received information about some kind of activity at the Russian training ground.
The purpose of the attack on the Kapustin Yar test site in the Astrakhan region could be to prevent the Russian invaders from launching another strike on Ukraine with an experimental Oreshnik-type ballistic missile.
“I assume that perhaps Ukraine attacked this Kapustin Yar, this object, precisely in order to prevent the Russian Federation from possibly, one might assume, making another attempt to launch this Oreshnik or its analogue, some variant,” the military expert said , former SBU officer Ivan Stupak on air on Radio NV.
The expert suggested that perhaps, thanks to satellites or some other way, it was possible to obtain information about what was happening at that test site…
