The current President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, said that he will remain in office until his successor is elected. Prior to this, the country's Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round of the presidential election, which was won by candidate Kalin Georgescu with a pro-Russian reputation. The politician said that he would leave his post “when the new president takes the oath of office.” He also assured that he does not plan to become prime minister.

“Until my last day, I will work for a democratic, free, modern, secure, European Romania. Romania is a stable, safe and strong country,” he said.
