The National Institute of Anthropology revealed the secrets of the pyramid in Hidalgo.

Scientists discovered a pyramid on Federal Highway 105 in Hidalgo that dates back to the pre-Hispanic period. The find is associated with the Metzka people who inhabited this region.

Heritage Daily writes about it.

The structure, named Structure 1, was discovered as part of the pre-Hispanic settlement of San Miguel, which is located near San Miguel Mezquitlán.

The site consists of five sectors and ten barrows dating from the Epiclassic (AD 650-950) to the Late Postclassic (AD 1350-1519). During the excavation, 155 artifacts were found, including pottery, shells, stone tools, as well as lime, charcoal and charred wood.
