Legendary boxing magazine The Ring has an unexpected owner – Boxing/MMA
Magazine The Ring announces the beginning of a new era. These are the words the editorial board greets the new owner – Turks of Al ash-Sheikh and the government of Saudi Arabia, Sports.kz reports with reference to vRINGe.com.
Colleagues in the craft are mostly not enthusiastic about this idea. But there are also advantages. The Ring will again be published in a printed version, which has not happened since 2022. Moreover, the printed version will be headed by the current editor-in-chief Doug Fisher, and Rick Reno (founder of BoxingScene) will be responsible for the “Internet” version.
The Ring magazine was founded in 1922, and since 2007 it has been owned by Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy company, which has also been criticized more than once due to an obvious conflict of interest.
