BRICS is not interested in weakening the US dollar,
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar's statement came in the Qatari capital Doha a week after Donald Trump's threats.
The BRICS countries are not at all interested in a weakening US dollar, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said at an event in the Qatari capital Doha. Reuters writes about this.
The idea of creating a single BRICS currency has been discussed, but no decision has been made, said Reserve Bank of India Governor Shaktikanta Das, Bloomberg reports. He noted that the geographic remoteness of the BRICS countries makes such an initiative difficult, unlike the eurozone.
Das emphasized that India, using rupees in cross-border payments, is not seeking to de-dollarize, but only reduces trade risks due to dependence on one currency.
