The situation in Syria – Bashar al-Assad's plane disappeared from radar – UNIAN
There is no official confirmation yet that the president was on board.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's plane left Damascus. The aircraft flew in an unknown direction and then disappeared from radar.
This is evidenced by data from the FlightRadar24 service, which tracked the movement of the presidential aircraft Il-76T. It is known that the plane began to descend sharply in the Tartus area.
The plane disappeared at an altitude of 495 meters. The media does not rule out that the Il-76T could crash. However, one should not exclude the possibility that the pilot turned off the sensors before the emergency landing.
Syrian media write that a powerful explosion allegedly occurred in the Homs area before Assad's plane disappeared. There is no official confirmation that the president was on board.
