Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered Israeli forces to capture areas of Syria in the buffer zone of the Golan Heights.
This is reported by Sky News.
Benjamin Netanyahu said the 1974 disengagement agreement with Syria had “fallen apart” so he “ordered [військовим] capture the buffer zone and command positions nearby.”
“We will not allow any hostile force to gain a foothold on our border,” he said.
Israel has occupied the Golan Heights since 1967, and since then the area has been a buffer zone.
