“I call on governments and the international community to achieve a ceasefire on all fronts of the war before Christmas,” the pontiff said.
He called on believers to pray for peace “in the suffering Ukraine”, in the Middle East – in Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, and now in Syria, as well as in Myanmar, in South Sudan “and everywhere where people suffer from war and violence “.
He also prayed for those sentenced to death in the United States, that their sentence be commuted and that they avoid death.
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán discussed “promoting peace” in Ukraine with the Pope.
