Khmelnytskyi region news: a speeding driver killed a couple
A man and a woman were crossing the road.
It happened in Khmelnytskyi road accident, in which a man and his wife died.
The details were reported to the regional police.
“The traffic accident occurred on the Zhytomyr — Chernivtsi highway. A 69-year-old resident of the city of Dunaivtsi, driving a Fiat car, ran over a couple of pensioners, 75 and 76 years old, who were crossing the road at the time,” the agency said.
As a result of the accident, the pedestrians died at the scene from their injuries.
Based on this fact, police investigators opened criminal proceedings under 3 Art. 286 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles, which caused the death of several persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides up to 10 years of imprisonment. Investigations are ongoing.
