Former regular WBA world heavyweight champion, Russian Alexander Povetkin stated that he would root for the Ukrainian Alexandra Usika in the upcoming rematch with the British Tyson Furywith the WBC, WBA and WBO titles at stake, reports Sports.kz with a link to MMA.Metaratings.ru.
Boxers will headline the boxing evening, which will take place on December 21 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
“I think Usyk should win again. And, whatever our relations with Ukraine are, I will root for Alexander,” Povetkin said.
The first confrontation between boxers for the title of absolute world champion took place in May 2024 and ended with Usik’s victory by a split decision.
