An expert explained the difference between the dull and shiny sides of foil.

Most of us use foil every day in the kitchen, and we may not think twice about whether to use it on the shiny or dull side. As food scientist Abby Thiel, PhD, told Eatingwell, there is indeed a difference between the sides of the foil, but it may not be exactly what you think.

As Thiel explains, the difference is solely due to the way the aluminum foil is produced, not because the sides have different properties.
