Archaeologists have discovered compelling evidence of the existence of rice beer in the ancient world. The 10,000-year-old finds were found at the Shanshan site in China's Zhejiang province.

According to Interesting Engineering, scientists studied twelve ancient ceramic fragments from the Shanshan site, dating back to 10,000–9,000 BC. e. during the Neolithic period.

“These shards were associated with various types of vessels, including fermentation, serving, storage, cooking and processing,” said Jiang Leping of the Zhejiang Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology (ICRA) in China.
