The educational ombudsman suggests leaving students for the second year of study

In Ukraine, schools may allow children to be left for the second year of study due to unsatisfactory academic performance.

Education ombudsman Nadia Leshchyk said this after a meeting with Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisov.

Leshchyk proposed to grant the right to educational institutions to keep students of all classes in the same class for the second year of study under one of the conditions. In particular, if there is an initial level of the child's educational achievements, in case of long-term skipping of lessons, absence during one academic semester. The decision to leave a child for a repeat course will be made by the Pedagogical Council in advance. This will happen without parental consent.

In the comments under the post, some Ukrainians questioned the expediency of such a decision in wartime conditions.
