Similar phenomena were last observed on Jupiter 8 years ago.
Astrophotographer Michael Karrer took amazing pictures of Jupiter, which show two white thunderstorms in the southern equatorial belt of the planet. This belt is one of the red-brown bands that encircle Jupiter's equator.
This was reported by Live Science.
Scientists suggest that these storms can change the color of the Southern Equatorial Belt or even cause it to “disappear”. According to astronomer John Rogers, similar phenomena on Jupiter were last observed 8 years ago.
Although the exact width of the bores is unknown, their size is impressive – they are so huge that each of them could fit the Earth with room to spare.
