In the conditions of war and energy attacks of the Russian Federation, the completion of two power units at the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant is a justified decision.
Ivan Us, chief consultant of the National Institute of Strategic Studies, said this in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, commenting on the issue brought up for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the expert, despite the constant attacks of Russian troops on the energy infrastructure, nuclear generation remains relatively protected. Russia avoids attacks on nuclear power plants because of the undesirable consequences in the international arena, concentrating instead on thermal and hydroelectric power plants.
“Nuclear generation will probably not become a target for strikes, and therefore it is worth paying attention to it. This will allow Ukraine to produce more electricity, which is critical for the functioning of the country during the war”, -…
