Inspection of parcels – the Rada proposes to allow the police to inspect the postal items of Ukrainians – UNIAN
This way the police will be able to check parcels, letters and other items.
A bill has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, according to which law enforcement officers may be allowed to open mail items of Ukrainians. This is stated in the corresponding bill No. 12294.
It is noted that postal items will be able to be inspected without the person’s knowledge only after they have been seized. To do this, law enforcement officers will need to obtain permission from the investigating judge. The document will be given only if there are serious reasons to believe that the parcel may contain things important for the investigation.
