What is known about the permission of the police to open parcels – what will change – Ukraine

The lawyer assured that the procedure for inspecting parcels remains unchanged. This can be done only with the permission of the investigating judge.

The draft law registered in the Verkhovna Rada, which allows police officers to open mail, is aimed only at clarifying concepts in the legislation. It does not create new risks for Ukrainians.

Volodymyr Martynenko, a lawyer and former adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, told about this on the air of the Kyiv24 TV channel.

As Martynenko explained, the right of police officers to inspect postal items is not something new. It is about aligning the terminology used in the legislation.
